How can atheists and believers combat the common threat from fundamentalist Christianity?

In the coming weeks, months and years, the criticism of rationalism and scientific truth, from a tiny moronity of nonetheless very well funded and vocal evangelical Christians, will switch focus from attacks on the biology of life to the neuroscience of the mind and the emerging data which shows the effects of religion in brain activity.

That religious experiences are an entirely physical and therefore subjective process, may seem like common sense to the vast majority of people, but to the same minority who gave the world Intelligent Design and other creation “sciences”, this latest research represents the attempts of science to demystify spiritual experience and once again leave all humanity alone in a cold, indifferent universe.
