‘Songs of praise’ is one of the BBC’s longest running Sunday afternoon programs, attracting tens of viewers each week, for a very English sing along to, well, songs of praise.

For those in the congregation who don’t know the words to some of the songs, the program makers have for a long time now inserted lyrics – karaoke style – at the bottom of the screen.
