Why is Christmas celebrated on December 25th?

Proof, as if it were needed, that Stephen Fry is just bloody brilliant!

  1. Yeah, but Jeez is so much more fun to say than Mith.

Is that Jo Brand, by the way? Love her.

  2. This is taken from a weekly panel show program called QI (as in ‘Quite Interesting’ but also as in the inner strength certain martial arts claim to draw upon).

Stephen Fry, the host, and a mix of British TV celebrities, comedians, writers and broadcasters get together and challenge certain commonly held assumptions on general knowledge (or general ignorance as the round is called) which are often incorrectly held or thought of as being true when in fact they are not, such as elephants never forgetting and so on.

This is where Allan Davis comes in. He’s the fall guy who always offers the obvious answer to the question which most people (in the audience) assume to be the truth, while the others have to guess what the actual answer is.

I can’t actually think of a better example of the difference between what constitutes a successful American TV show and what we Brits like to watch, than this very show. Gotta love the BBC.
